The second major patch update for Hades 2 has added a plethora of new content to the game, giving players who have already taken a break from it a compelling reason to return and dive back in for hundreds of hours. From long-awaited changes to the Gift system and simplifying romantic relationships to excellent quality-of-life improvements, this update is quite extensive and solidifies the game’s status as a masterpiece.
Among the new features is a brand-new mode called Dream Diving, which allows Melinoe to jump into four random regions, combining the Underworld and the Surface. This creates incredibly unique and challenging runs, focused solely on dynamic combat, which is what everyone loves about this series. The mode is thrilling, but to access it, you’ll need to meet a few requirements!
What is Dream Diving?
As mentioned earlier, Dream Diving is a new game mode in Hades 2 that adds variety to the gameplay and allows you to earn unique rewards. In this mode, you’ll have to pass through four regions, with each subsequent region being significantly harder than the previous one. And, as if that’s not enough, there’s another twist: all regions are chosen randomly.
Yes, that’s right: each Dream Diving attempt will consist of four regions, taken from either the Underworld or the Surface. This means you can start by fighting Typhon on the Peak, and end up battling Scylla in the Ocean. Moreover, the equipment you choose on the Training Ground (weapon, keepsake, and companion) will be used in this mode, so make sure everything is set up correctly before entering!
In Dream Diving, there will be almost no resources or materials to collect, and you won’t be able to communicate with the gods when choosing their Gifts. This mode is strictly focused on combat, so if you want to farm materials or develop relationships with certain characters, you’ll have to do it elsewhere!

Now that we’ve grasped the general idea of the mode, it’s time to figure out how to access it. To do this, you’ll first need to wake up Hypnos from his deep sleep, which will require completing a few steps. In short, to unlock Dream Diving, you’ll need to complete the following prophecies!

Talk to Hypnos to start your random Dream Diving run. For completing it successfully, you’ll receive Shining Stars, which can then be exchanged for unique rewards. This mode is quite challenging, so make sure you’re prepared before diving in!
