Beyond the Rails is an endgame challenge in Neverness to Everness where players test their skills and team synergy. Your objective is to complete stages—called “Stops” in-game—within a set time to earn rewards, including valuable Annihilates used in NTE gacha banners. While the mode is straightforward, achieving perfect scores on all stages is tough, especially for those new to the game’s combat mechanics.
NTE: Anomalous Zone “Beyond the Rails” Location
You’ll find this Anomalous Zone in the northern Miguel district. It appears as a bright turquoise marker along the White Tail Ridge road. Players can access it at any level, but since it’s an endgame activity, waiting until you’ve made significant progress is recommended.
Once you locate the “Beyond the Rails” marker on the NTE map, you’ll find the train station entrance. There, Ghost Trains and a crowd of passengers waiting to board will greet you. To begin, approach the main platform and speak with Miss Levi #10320 near the open train car.
There’s a side quest tied to the Ghost Train exam, but it’s optional for participating in the activity.
NTE: “Ghost Train” Trial Stages
In “Beyond the Rails,” there are two route types offering bonus rewards for completion:
- All-Day Routes (Fracture Circle) — permanently available and serve as an entry point to Ghost Train trials.
- Special Routes (Prime Circle) — temporary. After updates, all stages reset, letting you earn fresh rewards.
Before tackling Ghost Train “Stops,” ensure your characters are maxed out. Level up your NTE Hunter to unlock higher Ascension tiers for better performance.
Each route grants a Resonance Effect, a team-wide buff crucial for success. These effects help save time during battles, as losing time can cost you a three-star clear. Key Resonance Effects include:
- Law of Superimposed Blades: Boosts normal attack damage each time you hit an enemy with a normal attack. The boost stacks up to 10 times and resets when you switch characters.
- Flash of Enlightenment: Increases team Cosmos and Anima damage by 30%.
Your priority is to defeat all enemies. Completing a stage within the shortest allowed time grants a three-star clear, maximizing rewards. Optimize your teams and combat rotations to achieve this.
Otherworldly Supplies
Otherworldly Supplies are consumables you can carry into specific stages. You can buy a limited quantity for Shadow Feathers per route and use each item once per stage.
Choose wisely which stage to equip an Otherworldly Supply. Once used, you can’t reuse it on other stages. Recompleting the stage without the item removes it, allowing you to reuse or recycle it for Shadow Feathers.
These supplies vary widely—some boost damage, while others create powerful effects like a black hole that pulls enemies together.
NTE: Tips for Completing “Beyond the Rails”
- Bring your strongest NTE teams. If you lack suitable characters, include strong Supports like Haniell, Sakiri, and Jiuyuan.
- Regarding Sakiri and Jiuyuan: any character or ability that gathers enemies is highly effective. Clump monsters together, then destroy them with area attacks.
- Hotori’s Ultimate freezes the timer. Use her time-stop ability frequently if available.
- Always check the enemy info screen before starting a stage to prepare effectively.
- Build teams around the active Resonance Effect. Their impact is substantial.
