The quest “Chains of Fate” in Crimson Desert gives you one tough job: yank a spear out of a dragon’s back. To do it you’ll have to mount the flying serpent by leaping onto it from a bridge outside Urdava Castle in Tashkalp. Success hinges not only on nailing the jump timing but also on hitting the right button combos.

Before starting, raise your Stamina to at least level 5. Dragon-riding drains your stamina bar, and Crimson Desert’s heat mechanic makes it very easy to slip off without the upgrade.

Head to Urdava Castle in the Tashkalp region; the quest marker leads you there.
Step onto the long bridge and face north. Soon you’ll see the dragon approaching.
If you miss the timing or the dragon doesn’t show, hold Options/Start to reload the instance.
As the dragon flies beneath the bridge, leap off and press Square (Jump/Glide).
Hold L3 to trigger “Axiom Force Level 2” and latch onto the dragon’s back, then tap (don’t hold!) Square to mount it.
Sometimes Axiom Force won’t fire and you’ll simply fall. If that happens, try the easier backup method:
Jump off the bridge toward the dragon and press Square to glide.
Line up your flight path so you’re heading straight for the dragon’s head.
Basically, crash into the dragon—this auto-triggers the climb onto its back.

Once on top, your main goal is to stay aboard for roughly a minute.
Use L2/LT to grip the dragon whenever it rolls, rockets upward, or dives.
After a while a prompt will appear: “Focus and purge the corruption within using the Focused Palm of Power.”
While still on the dragon’s back, press L3+R3 to enter “Focus” stance.
In Focus mode hold R3 to charge the “Focused Palm of Power.”
Keep R3 held until a glowing yellow orb forms on the dragon’s back, then release the button.
This triggers the cutscene and completes the quest.
