How to Get and Use the Pirate King’s Hat in Crimson Desert

  • Save

The Pirate King’s Hat is a unique helmet in Crimson Desert that lets players sense when treasure is nearby. Since many of the game’s most powerful items are tucked into seemingly unremarkable spots, the hat’s ability to “sniff out” loot is incredibly handy. It ensures you’ll never miss your shot at fortune while exploring the world.

How to Get the Pirate King’s Hat

The Pirate King’s Hat can be found on the pirate ship Singing Catfish. This vessel drifts in the ocean between the Steel Mountains and the Mountain of Frozen Souls, east of Reedwind Valley (where you fight the boss Reed Devil in Chapter 3).

How to Use the Pirate King’s Hat

The Pirate King’s Hat carries the passive ability “Detect Treasure.” Unlike items such as Marnie’s Laser Helmet, which must be activated, this hat works automatically—no button presses required.

Whenever you approach valuable loot while wearing the hat, the white feather on its brim glows with a bright white light.

This glow can be hard to spot in bright sunlight, so pay extra attention while exploring during the day.

The hat doesn’t pinpoint the exact location of the treasure; it simply alerts you that you’re in the vicinity. If you step outside the immediate area, the glow fades, but it returns when you come back. The detection radius is roughly 10 meters.

Note: the Pirate King’s Hat only detects “treasure chests,” not unique items or other valuables placed directly in the open world.
