The “Twisted Thicketway” puzzle in Crimson Desert is an Abyss trial where you must defeat a boss and restore an artifact. Here’s how to clear it.
Access to “Twisted Thicketway” unlocks after you finish the “Ancient Sealed Gates” puzzle.
Find the fan on the summit of Sage’s Peak and activate it. Spread your wings above it to ride the updraft to the floating island of “Twisted Thicketway” in the Abyss.
Step onto the Abyssal Nexus on the island to unlock a fast-travel point.
Move forward to trigger the boss fight—Abyssal Kutum.
The best way to beat Kutum is to hit his glowing red eye on top of his body with “Axiom Force.” This tears the eye out and fills the boss’s stagger bar. While he’s down, you can deal massive damage.
Note that normal melee attacks barely scratch Abyssal Kutum. However, if you equip Cliff with “Abyss Gear,” which adds elemental damage to sword strikes, you’ll wound the boss significantly and fill the stagger bar faster.
Try to stagger Kutum as often as possible—it gives you windows for heavy hits. The boss’s own attacks are slow and telegraphed, so you won’t need much healing.
After defeating Abyssal Kutum, climb the structure in the center of the arena to restore the Abyss.
Use “Force Palm” on the Abyss button, advance, and claim the “Abyss Artifact.” This completes the “Twisted Thicketway” puzzle.
