The pirate survival game Windrose is attracting a lot of attention, and despite its dynamic gameplay, some players may want to adjust the difficulty level to suit their playstyle and skills.

You can change the difficulty in Windrose, but you cannot do it while in the game world. So, if you were looking for these settings in the pause menu, you won’t find them there.

  • First, return to the main menu.
  • Then, click “Play” and select “Single” or “Offline”. You will see a list of all your worlds. Choose the one you want to change.
  • At the bottom, there will be three options: “Confirm”, “Edit”, and “Delete”. Click “Edit” – that’s where the difficulty settings are.

In Windrose, there are four modes available:

  • Quiet Waters (easy sailing)
  • Open Sea (the intended experience by the developers)
  • Storm’s Edge (the sea shows no mercy)
  • Captain’s Choice (set the rules of your adventure)

The game provides a lot of control over how challenging your journey will be. Players can adjust enemy health, the damage they deal, the durability of their ships, and much more.

If none of the predefined options suit you, you can always choose “Captain’s Choice”. This is essentially a full control mode. You can change enemy health, damage, and many other parameters to make the game feel exactly how you want it to.

Which Difficulty to Choose in Windrose

  • Difficulty is really a personal choice, but for both veterans and newcomers, we recommend “Open Sea”.
  • “Open Sea” is the level of difficulty that the developers intended for the game.
  • In this mode, balanced values for health, damage, and other parameters are set.
  • Despite our recommendation, don’t be afraid to make the game easier to suit your needs.

There’s also an interesting option called “Immersive Exploration”. If you enable it, the map will stop showing points of interest. This means you’ll have to rely solely on yourself, without any markers.
