In Windrose there are several types of currency that affect your progress and equipment upgrades. Some are used directly with merchants, while others are more like valuable loot that can later be exchanged for something useful.
Even in early access each currency already has its purpose. Understanding their functions will save you time and spare you unnecessary grinding. This guide explains in plain language how to obtain and spend each of them.
The game is in early access, so the information may change.
How to Obtain and Use All Currencies
Piastres
Piastres are the primary trade currency in Windrose. These are the coins you will use when dealing with traders, especially in Tortuga, where most of the commerce is concentrated. Piastres are earned through trading with factions, completing quests, as well as selling loot and goods such as contraband.

At the moment, piastres form the backbone of the economy. Raising your reputation with factions is the most reliable way to secure a steady income, as it unlocks better trading terms.
Gineas
Gineas are a reward currency that is mainly obtained from buried caches and by completing world quests. Like piastres, they can be spent with merchants on various items.
Silver Ingots
Silver ingots are loot items that drop from chests, enemies and in dungeons. They are not a standard currency for direct purchases from sellers. Silver ingots are used for crafting and upgrading various jewelry pieces that enhance your skills.
They can also be bought from a merchant in Tortuga for 20 piastres.
Gold Ingots
Gold ingots work similarly to silver ones, but are usually tied to higher levels of progression. They drop from the same sources: chests and enemies, especially in more dangerous zones. They can also be purchased from merchants for piastres.
Like silver ingots, gold ingots are not spent directly; they are used to create and upgrade ornaments such as amulets and rings.
