In Windrose, island-hopping can eat up a lot of time. Sailing the world is fun at first, but soon you’ll wish you could skip the half-session voyages.

Luckily, there’s a fast-travel system—though it’s locked at the start. Here’s how to unlock and use it.

The game is in Early Access, so details may change.

The system opens up during the early story quest “How My Coastal Adventure Began”, right after you learn to smelt copper ingots. At that point you receive the Fast-Travel Bell—the key item for building the network.

You can get the Bell in two ways: find it or craft it.

  • Find: One of the earliest spots is a smuggler’s stash near the starting beach. It’s buried behind a cave-in. Clear the rubble, defeat the enemy inside, and loot the chest for a Bell plus its recipe. Bells can also appear in shipwreck chests.
  • Craft: At a workbench you’ll need 10 Copper Ingots and 3 Rope. Mine copper ore in caves, and turn plant fiber into rope.

The Bell alone does nothing. Place it inside a Fast-Travel Point you build via the building menu (press ‘B’). One point costs 20 Wood and one Fast-Travel Bell. You can only plant it next to water: on a shore or in a dock.

To use the system you need at least two Fast-Travel Points in different locations. After that you can hop between them freely.

While aboard your ship you can open the map and warp to any unlocked point, provided you’re not in combat and no one is chasing you.
