The content added in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder Switch 2 edition is mostly geared toward co-op and multiplayer, but that doesn’t mean solo players are left out. Besides the Toad Squad training courses, Bellabell Park now houses eight brand-new boss battles that will put your skills to the test.
The first of these fights greets you shortly after you arrive in Bellabell Park, though you’ll have to hunt down the rest. Luckily, if you chat with the blue-flag Poplin in the park, he’ll mark the next Toad Squad tent on your map, letting you fast-travel to the nearest course via the “Courses” menu.
How to Beat the Koopalings in Bellabell Park
The first Koopaling brawl is a showdown with all seven siblings, yet it’s one of the easiest. Stand beneath their flying carriage and spam the flower power-up until the fight ends.
How to Beat Wendy in Pipe-Rock Plateau
Talk to Captain Toad in the Toad Squad tent at Pipe-Rock Plateau to start Wendy’s fight. After a short stage, jump on Wendy’s head or hit her with flowers as she glides around. After a few hits, fish leap from certain pipes—watch their arcs, because some dive back in. In the final phase Wendy grows huge and hops across the arena. Stand under one of the two platforms and keep pelting her with flowers until she’s done.
How to Beat Lemmy in Fluff-Puff Peaks
When the fight starts, knock the bombs into the spike-ball pile beneath Lemmy until it’s gone. Once he lands, stomp his head. Repeat until the tower of spiked balls becomes massive; the plan stays the same—bat bombs into the tower while dodging explosions and Lemmy himself. When every spiked ball is gone, jump on Lemmy to finish the job.
How to Clear “Larry’s Battle” (Shining Falls)
Head to the Toad Squad tent in Shining Falls and speak to Captain Toad. To win, shatter the pink glass cube Larry hides in—hit the spike-free sides. Avoid the descending pink blocks and the bombs that spawn whenever he shifts cubes. When he moves to the top and blue fists appear, time a jump onto a fist as it rockets toward you, then ride it up to Larry and damage him. Rinse and repeat.
How to Clear “Roy’s Battle” (Sizzling Sands)
Roy’s fight in Sizzling Sands looks intimidating but is one of the easiest Koopaling bouts in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Dodge falling projectiles by standing under the platforms until a bird drops a pot. Grab it, stand beneath Roy, and let the pot’s shots hit him. Boos soon start flying—wait for a gap and hop over them. Occasionally Roy retreats to his ghost ship; position yourself under the gap in the hull so you’re safe when it slams down. Enough pot hits end the battle.
How to Clear “Iggy’s Battle” (Mushroom Mines)
Talk to Captain Toad in the Mushroom Mines Toad Squad tent to begin. At the start, move to the left until giant Piranha Plants sprout on the right. Bounce on their heads, holding B on landing for extra height, and work right toward Iggy while dodging projectiles and upward-facing plants. Keep the rhythm; after enough hits Iggy flees and you earn another Bellabell flower.
How to Clear “Morton’s Battle” (Deep Magma Bog)
Find Morton in Deep Magma Bog via Captain Toad’s tent. To damage him, leap and grab handles to yank Morton’s strings so he smacks himself. Reach the handles by riding crates that shoot upward whenever Morton pounds the ground—but he’ll smash any crates he hits, so hang back until he commits, then quickly hop on a crate before it launches. If you’re fast, the extra height lets you reach the handle. Repeat until Morton runs off and you claim the second-to-last Bellabell flower.
How to Clear “Ludwig’s Battle” (Bellabell Park)
Ludwig’s fight unlocks right after beating Morton; talk to Captain Toad in Bellabell Park. It’s the final and toughest Koopaling clash in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Start by dodging electric bolts and using platforms to gain enough height to stomp Ludwig’s head. More platforms appear and water trickles down, giving you extra lift if needed.
After the first hit Ludwig spawns a clone; each subsequent hit adds more. You can dispatch clones with a stomp, cutting down projectile spam, but focus on the real Ludwig whenever you can—everyone disappears when he takes damage.
After three or four hits an army of clones appears while the real Ludwig soars sky-high. Ride the central waterfall up, dodging clone lightning. At the top you need three more hits. No clones this time, but his attacks are far nastier. Climb the platforms quickly and watch where the next bolt lands—there’s usually room to dodge, but sometimes you’ll need to hop over it. The “Floating High Jump” badge is invaluable here. Keep evading and striking; the battle will soon be yours.
Rewards for Beating All Seven Koopalings in Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Defeating all seven Koopalings nets you the “Koopaling Victory” flag and the “All Flower Power” badge.
The latter turns every power-up into the flower form, perfect if you love the new ability. Collecting the final Bellabell flower also unlocks powered-up versions of all seven bosses in the Toad Squad training menu’s “Extras” section—so if you still feel like stomping Koopalings, the game’s got you covered.
