Mods Unlock Additional Possibilities for Hugh

What are Mods?

Despite the extensive customization of equipment for each sector — the choice of weapons, defensive modules, and hacking nodes — you’ll soon start unlocking mods that give Hugh additional stats before exiting to a new zone.

At the beginning of the game, by default, you can equip only one mod. However, you’ll be able to purchase a series of upgrades to increase the number of mod slots in the Print Block. The cost varies and can be expressed in Lunafilament, Pure Lunum, or a combination of both. The further you progress in the lunar mysteries, the more mods you’ll need, so it’s a good idea to buy new slots in the Print Block at the first opportunity.

Additional mod slots become available in the Print Block as you increase the Shelter Level. New blueprints are added both when you first open something and when you increase this level.

Mods in Pragmata most often provide Hugh with various combat benefits when equipped. On the modification loadout screen, they are divided into four categories, making it easier to find the optimal configuration for your playstyle.

The game features four types of mods:

  • Attacking mods, offering a variety of unique combat upgrades. They allow you to change the damage characteristics of Hugh’s Primary, Assault, and Tactical weapons: increase damage of certain attack types, increase the speed of Assault modules, and more. There are the most attacking mods in the game, so you’ll definitely find an option to suit your style.
  • Hacking ability mods directly improve Diana’s hacking skills. They allow you to hack targets from a greater distance, increase the duration of the “Open” state of enemies after hacking, and provide other useful bonuses.
  • Defensive mods help increase the health reserve, reduce the damage received, or change the moment of its receipt in battle.
  • Supporting mods include all upgrades that do not directly relate to the previous three categories.

You can change mods every time you exit the Shelter, and you should take advantage of this. The right selection of modifications can become a crucial factor in upcoming battles. Having trouble in a particular fight? Try changing mods to change Hugh’s characteristics and find the optimal combination for this skirmish.

How to Unlock More Mods

Mod information is displayed in a data table for each block of Pragmata sectors. This table, broken down by blocks, allows you to easily see how many mods are hidden in each sector and what you might have missed by focusing on the main storyline.

During exploration, Diana will also comment if there’s a mod nearby. She’s especially useful in this regard if you’ve upgraded her scanning ability, allowing her to see items hidden in sectors. Hidden mods are marked with an icon resembling a sheet of paper with a gear. So, between the icons and Diana’s hints, you’ll definitely find all the mods in Pragmata.

Mods are usually found inside locked chests that you need to break into, or they can be hidden in nooks and crannies that require careful searching along side paths that don’t lead to the next story point. If you notice a strange corridor or a locked door, be sure to check them, especially if Diana says there might be one of Pragmata’s mods inside.

They can also be a reward for additional trials or puzzles. These include, for example, Red Zones on the Moon, offering various combat trials in exchange for diverse rewards for each passed zone. Training simulations in the Cabin sometimes give out mods as prizes for main and side objectives, offering a bonus choice of rewards. Additionally, mods can be unlocked through Cabin Bingo boards — either as regular rewards when choosing an unmarked square for Cabin coins or as rewards for achieving a certain number of bingos on the specified boards.
