How to Get the Claw in Crimson Desert: A Unique Fishing Rod

  • Save

“The Claw” is a unique fishing rod in Crimson Desert that automatically reels in fish, turning the normally tricky art of angling into child’s play.

You can get your hands on “The Claw” in two ways: steal it from a fisherman in the Bounty Net or earn it as a loyalty reward from the wandering trader Patrigio. Let’s break down both methods.

Ways to Obtain “The Claw” Fishing Rod

There are two main routes to owning “The Claw” in Crimson Desert:

  • Pickpocket the rod from the angler standing at the edge of the pier in the Bounty Net, southwest of the Spire of Insight.
  • Track down the secretive merchant Patrigio and raise his trust to 100 to receive “The Claw” as a gift.

First, you’ll need a mask that unlocks the ability to steal. Head to the Bounty Net—a small, hidden pier where a handful of NPCs are fishing. Check the angler on the right: his rod looks different from the rest. That’s “The Claw.”

Bump into him or give him a light kick and he’ll drop the rod. The catch? He’s standing right at the water’s edge, so “The Claw” often falls into the sea and becomes unobtainable. Fortunately, there’s a workaround.

Step-by-step theft:

  • Kick the fisherman to make him drop “The Claw.”
  • If it lands in the water, back away. He’ll eventually fish it out and equip it again.
  • Repeat until the rod falls on solid ground.
  • Grab it and hightail it out of the restricted zone.

If you leave the red area before the timer expires, no bounty will be placed on your head.

Patrigio is a roaming trader who can appear near the Howling Hill camp between midnight and 3 a.m.—but only after you finish Chapter 3 of the main story.

He’s been spotted in several spots: inside Howling Hill right in front of Ross the quest coordinator’s tent, on the narrow trail outside the camp leading toward Hernand, and close to the Golden Leaf trading post.

Fastest way to find him: rest at a bed or campfire in Howling Hill until just before midnight. As soon as the clock hits 0:00, leave the camp, turn left, and head down the mountain path toward Hernand. Chances are good you’ll run into Patrigio along the way.

Once you locate him, max out his trust by giving him 20 Copper Pouches (any value works). Copper Pouches can be looted from defeated enemies. When Patrigio’s trust hits 100, he’ll hand over “The Claw” as a reward.
