How to Defeat the Queen of the Fae of the Darkmoon Court in Cinderia: Boss Guide

  • Save

A fairy-tale aesthetic that runs through both the art style and the game design makes Cinderia a pleasant roguelike that borrows heavily from titles like Hades while still offering plenty of its own unique twists.

One of the first bosses you’ll face is the Faerie Queen of the Dark-Moon Court. The fight can look chaotic at first glance, but her actual move set is surprisingly limited.

Just like the fae of folklore, the Faerie Queen dwells deep in the forest and serves as the final boss of the Moonless Woods, the second region that unlocks right after you defeat the Ash-Scar Judge.

Because the rooms you enter are procedurally generated, you can’t predict exactly when you’ll reach the final chamber, so make sure you’re well prepared before the fight. You can always duck into a shop to restock.

The entire battle revolves around constant movement—you’ll almost never want to stand still. This makes her relatively weaker than some other bosses, though her attacks make it hard to find openings for your own.

Phase one

During the first phase the Faerie Queen is still very fast but attacks less frequently. She also likes to summon other fairies so you can’t focus solely on her.

Here are her main attacks in phase one:

  • Radial Sweep: the boss glows orange, then strikes the entire area around her. Large butterflies spawn and chase you, exploding on contact and leaving a vision-obscuring mist.
  • Summon Tiny Faeries: occasionally she calls forth a line of small butterflies that fly in a single direction before vanishing.
  • Summon Minions: the Queen spawns a group of small fairy enemies that can also create butterflies. They respawn, but clearing them is still worth it to reduce screen clutter.

Phase two

There’s no hard transition; instead her move set gradually expands, though the change is obvious from her animations.

These attacks are added as the fight progresses:

  • Clone Call: she spawns one or two copies of herself. Clones can use the same attacks, but damaging them doesn’t hurt the real Queen.
  • Celestial Rain: the boss marks spots on the ground; moments later magical blasts strike those locations. The blasts track you, so keep moving. Clones can also use this, dramatically increasing projectile count.
  • Fae Discharge: she fires a wide fan of tiny fairies from her hand in an arcing spread; these projectiles do not home in.

The key to victory is nonstop movement. Long-range attacks are therefore extremely useful, so pick up plenty of skills and upgrades that enhance them. Rivett shines here; her guns can autonomously chip the boss or clear weaker mobs.

A second dash is invaluable because you’ll be dodging constantly. Celestial Rain, though tough to avoid, is perfect for hit-and-run tactics: dodge, strike, dodge again. Since the explosions chase you, you can circle the Queen nonstop, landing steady damage.

Even though the small enemies respawn, clear them as you go. The arena quickly fills with projectiles, so reducing their numbers makes survival much easier.

Once you topple the Faerie Queen, be ready to press on into the Mines.
