The caves in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core are unforgiving. One minute you’re peacefully mining expenite, and the next you’re being chased by a massive swarm with barely enough ammo to survive. That’s why getting the best gear isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity, and that’s where workbenches come in.
Workbenches give you access to powerful weapons, upgrades, and abilities that can make progression much easier. But first you have to locate the toolbox that houses them, hidden somewhere in the caves. Here’s how to find workbench toolboxes in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core.

How to Find a Workbench Toolbox in DRG: Rogue Core

The first step is to find a workbench. Each level in Rogue Core has a workbench.
However, the game’s randomness means its location changes with each run, so you might have to explore the caves a bit before you find it. Once you finally find the workbench, approach it and use the “Activate Toolbox Search” option. This will show the toolbox’s location on your terrain scanner.
Now, open your map with the Tab or M key and look for the red marker. That’s where the toolbox is hidden. Its appearance is also random, so its location will be different for each player and in each run. It took me about three minutes to find it.
Once you find the toolbox, all you need to do is dig it up with your trusty pickaxe. After picking it up, return to the workbench and interact with it again. Your dwarf will place the toolbox on the workbench, activating it. After that, you can start using the workbench.

After activating the workbench, you can interact with it to see everything it has to offer in your run. You can upgrade your weapons, enhance your class abilities, and even switch guns if you find something better than your current one.
Workbenches can play a huge role in tougher fights. In some of my runs, I was able to find much more powerful guns through the workbench, so it’s definitely a priority!
