Guide for Resident Evil Requiem for Beginners — Everything You Need to Know to Survive

We’ll start with the very first launch of the game. The menu immediately tells us that the developers have planned two types of camera – first-person for Grace and third-person for Leon. This was done in order to maintain the feeling of horror for the girl and dominance for the brave virus fighter. In reality, it’s much more prosaic.

Playing with the camera from the eyes, you never know what’s happening behind you. The mansion, in which most of the story takes place, is entirely made up of long, winding corridors. Even if you think that there is no danger, it can always appear somewhere outside the character’s field of view. With a third-person view, such situations almost don’t arise. The camera is far enough away so that you can well feel the space and understand what is happening just a few centimeters from Grace and Leon. This reduces the level of horror, but makes the game easier.

Difficulty Levels

As usual, difficulty levels affect the zombies’ survivability and the amount of resources. But believe me, even on normal, it won’t be too easy. The easy difficulty option helps you aim directly at the head. This is a good choice for those who shoot poorly on a gamepad. If, however, you want to prick your nerves but not suffer too much – choose the normal difficulty level and then set the help with aiming. Settings easily allow you to combine these things.

How to Explore Locations

  • Save

Investigation of the mansion and any other locations proceeds according to a familiar scenario for fans. You’ll see many different paths, but only one is open. As you explore the available rooms, you’ll acquire increasingly useful items and access cards, unlocking new rooms.

However, the most important thing, without which you definitely won’t cope – a map of the area. It won’t appear by default, and won’t lie rolled up in the corner. Carefully examine the walls to not miss the printed map attached to one of them. Grace will need to look at the image only once in order to get new data and be able to use it at any time. The map displays sources of blood, bullets, coins, and much more. However, the most important thing – closed and open doors. This will help both in action moments and in normal exploration.

How to Handle Cold Weapons

  • Save

You’ll quickly understand that cold weapons will be your constant assistant, but they have a number of rules. Firstly, all blades have their own durability. Leon has an axe that will never break. After resetting durability, it can be sharpened. Grace, on the other hand, will be using ordinary knives or even halves of scissors.

An important nuance – if a zombie has already grabbed you, fighting with a knife isn’t the best idea. It’s better to take damage and stab the monster as it is. The reason is that the knife remains inside the zombie until you kill it after it breaks free. It can happen that you lose your knife and don’t have any bullets either. In this way, Grace will be completely defenseless.

When the knife’s durability becomes minimal, it can be disassembled into materials. With enough blood, this will give you a full magazine with 8 bullets. Crafting has become especially important in this part, so it’s vital to keep track of these things, though we’ll talk about this a little later.

How to Shoot

  • Save

After the remake of Resident Evil 2, the new shooting mechanic is regularly used in the series. It’s not enough to simply aim at the enemy to shoot in the right place. You need to hold the aiming reticle for several seconds. You’ll see it change visually and a dot appears in the crosshair. Shooting at the head is always advantageous – there’s less blood, and the zombie dies faster, but in the chaos you can shoot at the legs – then the monster will fall and become much slower.

A new feature of the game is that most zombies can’t be simply killed with a pistol – after a while they get up, even if you’ve fired 20 bullets directly into their brains. Almost nothing can be done with this, however, some monsters are less dangerous than others. Most of them don’t need to be killed at all; it’s enough just to go around them. Or you can trick them with a light switch, as mutants now dislike bright light and will turn it off.

There are also some who are fixated on one place or room; if you keep a sufficient distance and move quickly, they won’t even react. This also applies to lying opponents. You need to approach close enough so that the zombie starts to get up. If you press against the wall, everything will go smoothly.

In most cases, it’s better to save bullets for strong opponents. You can easily recognize them. In the early stages, it will be the cook and the singer. Both are extremely dangerous and resilient. There are also mutants – zombies with unnaturally enlarged heads, which are much faster and more aggressive than their ordinary counterparts. Usually, zombies mutate after the first fall, that is, even after you’ve knocked them out with shots to the head.

Headless monsters don’t get up. With some probability, rotten skulls can burst from gunfire, so there’s nothing to worry about. It makes little sense to kill mutated walking creatures with a pistol, it’s better to run. Leon will give Grace his “dual-handed revolver Requiem,” but with a single cartridge. This ultimate weapon will help against strong enemies or mutants, but you’ll have to learn to use it.

“Requiem” shoots with a strong recoil and far. It can hit several enemies at once, but it’s better to aim at the heads. For example, the cook didn’t die from the first shot just because we missed his head. The ideal tactic is to lure a lot of medium-sized enemies into a corridor and wait for the moment when they line up, then shoot. Over time, you’ll learn to craft bullets for the pistol and revolver, we’ll discuss this further.

An important addition to this system concerns Leon. He is able to finish off zombies so that they no longer get up. Always try to use this when a characteristic finishing symbol appears on the zombie. Grace can only push monsters, which will help slow them down, but not eliminate them.

How to Obtain New Weapons

Initially, Grace will have nothing but Leon’s revolver. You can find the first pistol in the cafeteria. With it, you’ll be safer, although you’ll still need to search for ammo. But there’s a better option – two standard zombies and a singer on the second floor in the Lounge Bar. The danger of the last one is that she, forgive me, screams. When this happens, Grace becomes slower for a few seconds and takes damage. It’s best to deal with these enemies, as that’s where the new pistol with much higher damage and a large magazine will be.

How to Improve the Hero

  • Save

Leon is already very strong in general, but Grace will need to be upgraded. You can do this through stabilizers and steroids. The firsts enhance the heroine’s power, and the second enhances the overall amount of health. There will be about 5 upgrades available in the game, including the first two that can be unlocked with money, however, you are free to decide exactly which improvements (health or power) you want to make. The thing is, you first need to find an empty filler, and then craft the active substance for these injections.

How Crafting Works

  • Save

According to the story, you, playing as Grace, will stumble upon a blood lab. It’s there that you’ll unlock the ability to craft (as strange as it may seem). Once unlocked, you’re allowed to create items at any moment – the main thing is to have the right amount of resources. You’ll always need blood, as well as parts. You can find blood in buckets or on the bodies of zombies. The good news is that it’s displayed on the map. Simply drain it into a mass of bio-material with a special syringe. Parts are kept in pouches scattered across the map. In the beginning, you’ll only be able to create bullets and hemostatic injectors, but the list can be expanded.

Right here is where our knowledge of item disassembly will come in handy. Even the worst knife will yield as many materials as a good one. You can easily make eight bullets from them (believe me, that’s a lot). So don’t be shy about disassembling heavily worn items.

Exceptional recipes need to be found. For example, the ability to create bullets for Requiem will open up when you obtain a level 1 access bracelet and go into the chamber in the Waiting Room.

How to kill zombies forever

  • Save

Any zombie can be eliminated permanently. To do this, you will need hemolitic injectors. You will unlock them through the story, so don’t look for them too early. Injectors can be crafted. If Grace sneaks up to the zombie quietly and injects the substance, the monster will vividly tear it apart. This works with any enemy, so use it. However, you should remember that there is a limited amount of resources in the game: if you spend all the blood and materials on injectors, you will be left without other useful items.

Why are coins needed

Coins are an important resource. You will be able to spend them in a special room that will open up after finding Grace the ruby. The room will be before the kitchen, and on the door to it there is a horse. All upgrades for coins cost relatively cheaply, but they give permanent improvements. It is best to collect them all.

Inventory Problem

  • Save

Grace has big problems with his inventory. He will have to expand it with bags, but there is still not enough space. It is important to know that some items can be disassembled and vice versa combined. And also consumables that you discard disappear forever. Therefore, under no circumstances should you throw something away in exchange for another. It is better to wait and spend resources or use the chest in safe rooms. What is already lying on the territory will not go anywhere and will definitely wait for you.

Why is grass needed

Grass in the series traditionally replaces healing kits. Green grass always restores health. You can combine up to three herbs into one potion, increasing its effectiveness.
