Crimson Desert hides plenty of secret loot and boss weapons. One such trophy is the two-handed greatsword “Hound.” Once you claim it, you can extract the Abyss gear “Hound Claws” from it—an excellent pairing with spears and the Whirlwind Strike skill for crowd control.
Both the weapon and the gear drop after defeating Hemon Bayndel, found in Hellwood Fort south of Hernand.

- This Hernand faction quest unlocks only after you’ve completed enough other quests for the faction. If you arrive and the boss isn’t there, keep doing Hernand faction quests.
- Once the boss is down, you’ll receive the “Hound” greatsword with the “Hound Claws” already socketed.
- Visit any Witch (e.g., in Witchwood) to “Extract Abyss Gear” and move the Hound Claws to any other weapon you like.

- “Hound” is a solid two-handed weapon that, at max enhancement, reaches 39 Attack and Lv. 3 crit chance.
- It’s respectable, but the open world offers stronger alternatives that don’t require a specific faction questline.
“Hound Claws” is a handy piece of Abyss gear because it triggers on the same R1+X combo as Whirlwind Strike, letting you deal heavy area damage at the cost of high stamina consumption.
