The “End of Greed” quest in Crimson Desert marks the transition to a more serious part of the second chapter. You will have to move from simply clearing out bandits to a deep conflict with the Golden Leaf Trade Guild, while also completing urgent tasks to save civilians and find the abducted healer. The quest will culminate in a battle with the boss Hornsplitter Kailok at Unicorn Cliff. If you encounter difficulties, this guide will help you complete the quest without problems.

Dark Veil

The quest begins with the task “Dark Veil”, which sets the tone for the entire subsequent storyline. Head to the Golden Leaf Trade Post, located near Ernand, where you completed the previous quest.
There, you will meet Shakatu, who will hint that the Golden Leaf Trade Guild is not as clean as it seems. Although you won’t get the full picture yet, it will become clear that something corrupt is going on behind the scenes.
As you progress through the location, keep an eye on the mini-map to find sealed Abyssal artifacts. They are easy to miss if you rush, but they are worth collecting, as they unlock skills and upgrades that will come in handy later, especially in tough boss battles.
The pace picks up significantly in the “Flame of Greed” task. After talking to the nearby NPCs, you will learn that the healer has refused to cooperate with the Golden Leaf faction. In response, the bandits have set his house on fire. Now you need to head to Unicorn Cliff.
When you arrive at the house, it will already be engulfed in flames. The situation becomes tense here. Someone is trapped inside, and you have limited time to act. The entrance is blocked by burning debris, so you will have to use the “Lift” skill to clear the way.
Once inside, the task is clear, but the time limit will not go away.
Try not to step on the burning areas, grab the trapped person, and take them outside before time runs out. The timer is generous enough, but hesitation or poor positioning can still lead to failure. This stage is more about attention and movement than combat.
Abducted Healer

After the rescue, you will learn that the real target, healer Hubert, has been abducted. This gives you a new mission: to track down the abducted healer.
Head to Ernand Highlands, where the bandits are hiding. Along the way, you will encounter small groups of enemies that are easy to deal with. This is a good opportunity to collect additional gear and resources, even if most of the equipment won’t surpass what you already have.
The bandit camp itself is quite straightforward. You can approach it aggressively or choose a more stealthy path, sneaking up on enemies for a quick kill. Either way, this stage shouldn’t pose any difficulties.
After clearing the camp, free Hubert to complete the task.
Before leaving, take the time to explore the area. Nearby, you can find useful materials for crafting, such as peonies, which will become valuable later when you unlock certain recipes. You will also find consumables and possibly another Abyssal artifact if you search carefully.
Rebellion or Revolution

The next phase, “Rebellion or Revolution”, brings you back to Shakatu, but everything doesn’t go as planned. Instead of a peaceful meeting, you will be suddenly attacked by his people due to a misunderstanding. This fight is a bit tougher than the previous ones. If you rely only on basic attacks, you will find it difficult to break through their defense.
The best approach here is to combine powerful attacks, grabs, or shield-breaking techniques. If you have unlocked abilities using Abyssal artifacts, now is the time to use them. Timely parries can also create openings in their defense, making the fight much easier.
After defeating the soldiers, you will finally have a full conversation with Shakatu. He will explain the situation and offer a deal. In exchange for eliminating Hornsplitter, he will reward you and help restore order in the region.
Celebration on the Outskirts

Before proceeding to the final part of the “End of Greed” quest, prepare some food at the nearby camp and make sure you have enough healing items in your inventory. It’s also worth unlocking all the abilities you’ve been putting off. Even basic equipment upgrades can make a noticeable difference in the upcoming battle.
The final stage, “Celebration on the Outskirts”, will take you back to Unicorn Cliff. To reach Hornsplitter’s camp, you will have to deal with a large group of enemies. The most sensible approach is to use the environment to your advantage, knocking enemies off the cliff. This is one of the easiest ways to take out the group without taking significant damage.
If you prefer a direct fight, wide attacks like “Spin Attack” will help you deal with multiple enemies at once.
After clearing the entrance, enter the camp. Make sure not to attack the peaceful NPCs inside.
How to Defeat Kailok

Kailok is the final boss of the “End of Greed” quest. He constantly creates distance before unleashing powerful ranged attacks. His wind blows come in a straight line, so the best way to avoid them is to dodge to the side, gradually closing the distance. When he approaches, he follows a predictable pattern: “Shoulder Charge” and an overhead attack. Both can be blocked, giving you a chance to counterattack.
One of the most important mechanics in this battle is stunning. Heavy attacks and special abilities fill up the boss’s stun gauge, and once it’s full, you can unleash a powerful finisher.
Kailok also has an unblockable attack that is accompanied by a red flash. When you see it, don’t hesitate. Immediately perform a quick dodge or roll to avoid taking significant damage.
After landing, he has a short window of vulnerability — use this opportunity to attack. During the battle, you will unlock the ability to roll, which allows you to quickly recover from a hit and change position more effectively.
Rewards for Completing the “End of Greed” Quest
After defeating Kailok, the “End of Greed” quest will be completed. You will receive rewards, including resources such as copper and iron ore, as well as more valuable items: an Abyssal artifact, a medium pouch, and a ruler’s sword.
