In Crimson Desert, you’ll set off across a vast, vibrant world packed with gorgeous vistas, clever puzzles, and heart-pounding fights. One of the nastiest roadblocks is Kearush the Slayer—a lethal boss who’s anything but a pushover. This guide breaks down every move he has and hands you a battle-tested strategy to bring him down.
How to Beat Kearush the Slayer in Crimson Desert
Kearush the Slayer is the boss fight in the story quest “Demenissian Delegation,” Chapter 5 “Guest Unbidden.” The brawl happens inside a church during the envoy reception from Demeniss. Thanks to its three-phase structure and relentless tempo, the fight is widely regarded as one of the hardest in the game. Learn his pattern first, then gear up using the tips below.
The encounter is a marathon, not a sprint: three identical phases that scale up in damage and speed.
Every attack Kearush uses:
- Four-hit combo: four ground pounds capped by a body slam; the final hit is unblockable.
- Wall dive: he scrambles up a wall and crashes down on you—duck under the wall he jumped to.
- Hail of blows: a blue immunity shield pops up while he pummels Cliff, ending in a back-flip crush. Dodging or blocking is nearly impossible; trigger Axiom and hug the wall.
- Grab: he snags Cliff by the legs, smashes him into the floor, then hurls him in a random direction. It can come at any time and can’t be dodged or blocked.
The tight arena and respawning soldiers tripping you up make everything worse. Get knocked out of the church and you restart the entire fight. Prep accordingly:
How to gear up for Kearush:
- Stock at least 200 units of complex food. Buy plenty of arrows and head into the forests to hunt big game.
- Purchase the upgrade for the Forward Slash skill. After his strings he leaves long openings—perfect for a heavy back-stab.
- Max out your health and stamina.
- Buy plate armor and upgrade it to the cap.
- Never swing first. Wait for his whiff, punish, then back off and keep dodging.
Core strategy: outlast the onslaught, keep your distance, and strike only in the brief lulls between his combos. Your prize is The Grove’s Thorn, one of the best maces in the game. After the dust settles you’ll be tracking down the Raven Enchanter—check our separate guide for that showdown.
