In Borderlands 4, the brilliant mechanic Ellie is back—but unlike her mother Moxxi, her arrival on Kairos didn’t go smoothly. Her drop pod crashed in a remote ice-bound region called the Whispering Glacier, and the name is no accident.
A cosmic entity lurks here, driving anyone nearby insane by whispering voices into their heads and tormenting them with brutal hallucinations of a strange monolith. Few can resist its power, yet Moxxi isn’t about to leave her daughter to fate. Grab your guns and swing by the Mancubus Bar before you ship out.
How to Start the “Temple of the Damned” DLC Missions
The Mad Ellie and the Temple of the Damned add-on offers two ways to kick off the story campaign. First, choose “New Game” from the main menu after buying the DLC and set the game type to “Mad Ellie and the Temple of the Damned.”
This starts you with a level-13 Vault Hunter, basic gear, traversal abilities, a vehicle, and every story mission required to begin the DLC already completed: “Shoot to Score,” “Recruitment Drive,” “Down and Out,” and “Lots of Work.”
This method lets you jump straight into the DLC with a fresh character after a short cut-scene—say, the C4SH Rascal released alongside this Story Pack—no need to replay the opening missions.
Starting the DLC with an Existing Character
If you’d rather run the DLC with your current Vault Hunter and score high-level loot, simply load that save and make sure you’ve cleared every story mission up to and including “Lots of Work.”
Fast-travel to “Zadra’s Plan B” in the Rifted Plateau and interact with the tentacle-covered statue in the slightly snow-dusted alcove near the top of the stairs.
This launches the story mission “Invitation.” Interact with the statue again to trigger a short cut-scene (the same one you’d see when starting via the separate game type). Afterward you’ll be teleported to the new zone and automatically begin “On the Forsaken Icebound Shores,” the next link in the chain.
