In The Outer Worlds 2, a mechanic has been introduced that limits the frequent use of the inhaler. This rebalance encourages players to take thoughtful tactical actions, especially on higher difficulty levels. However, there are several ways to remove this status or prevent it from occurring altogether. In this guide, we will explain how to do this.
The principle of this нововведения is quite simple: when using medications, the Toxicity scale fills up. When it reaches its limit, the main character experiences «Drug crash». During this status effect, you cannot restore health using the inhaler.
How to Prevent the «Withdrawal» Effect
Each level of the «Medicine» skill increases the toxicity threshold. In addition, there are several useful skills in the medical development branch. The «Connoisseur» perk is available at the first level of «Medicine». It provides +25% to healing from food and drinks, as well as +25% to the inhaler charge. This skill is better to acquire at an early stage of character development.
At the second level of the «Medicine» skill, the «Pharm-thuralist» perk becomes available. This skill reduces (-25%) toxicity when using the inhaler.
When «Medicine» reaches the eighth level, you will have the opportunity to acquire the useful skill «Crash Recovery». This perk promotes health regeneration (+2% health per second) during «withdrawal».
How to Eliminate the «Withdrawal» Effect
«AutoDoc» stations are found in almost all locations in The Outer Worlds 2. Using one of them will fully restore health, remove all status effects, and replenish the inhaler with two charges for free. However, each «AutoDoc» replenishes inhaler charges only once.
Most settlements have doctors. Their location can often be learned from local residents. For a certain fee, NPC doctors will heal wounds and remove status effects (including withdrawal).
