In Act 2 of “Crime Scene Cleaner,” during the chapter “Circle of Friends,” Kovalsky will have to explore Holden’s gloomy mansion. In one of the corridors, next to the dining room, you’ll find a locked floor hatch surrounded by three paintings. Here’s how to solve the puzzle and descend into the secret room.
How to open the hatch in Holden’s mansion
Approach the hatch and you’ll see three paintings on the walls. Interact with each one and the image will change. Your task is to find the correct version for every painting so the mechanism triggers.
The solution is as follows. Set the paintings in this order (left to right from the corridor entrance):
- Left painting (skull and goblet): Get the version where the goblet is intact and a red cloth lies on the table.
- Center painting (portrait): You need the portrait of Holden wearing glasses.
- Right painting (armchair by the window): Cycle it until a green summer landscape appears outside the window instead of the winter one.
Once all three paintings are correct, the hatch will open.
Inside the secret room downstairs you’ll find money scattered everywhere. On the red sofa on the right lies the CD “Red Temple by EON Society.” On the central sofa you can pick up a schedule of an unfortunate event, and behind it open a chest with a large sum of cash.
How to reach Holden’s mansion
To reach the puzzle area, head from the Town Square to the building opposite the entrance, passing through the garage. To get inside the garage, go around it and smash the wooden planks, then crawl in. Climb the stairs, walk past the windows into the Corridor.
Turn left and keep going straight until you see a red wall near the kitchen. Go through the door and you’ll be in Holden’s mansion, next to the dining room. Turn left into the small corridor beside the staircase. At the end of that corridor you’ll find the room with the hatch.
