You’ll learn where to find fish and how to use bait.
How to Unlock Fishing in Heartopia
Fishing is initially unavailable. To unlock it, you need to complete a training course from Ivan (Vanya). He will come the day after you furnish your house according to Bob’s (Bob) advice. The guy will give your character a fishing rod, and then ask you to go to the nearest pond and catch three fish. Return to him and turn in the quest.
As a result, in the “My Hobbies” (Мои хобби) section, “Fishing” (Рыбалка) will open. To level up this branch, you need to visit various bodies of water and catch new types of fish. From this moment on, a fishing rod appears in the inutames.
How to Fish
In this game, fishing has been greatly simplified. To catch a fish, you simply need to find a dark silhouette in a body of water, grab a fishing rod, cast it, wait for it to bite, and pull it out. However, there are a few nuances:
- Approach a body of water with fish.
- Open the toolset by pressing the (T) key or the icon resembling a case with a handle in the lower right corner.
- Select the fishing rod, and the hero will take it in his hands.
- A white circle with a fish will appear on the surface of the water. This is where the float will fall after casting.
- Press F to cast the line, or the round icon with a fishing rod.
- If you hover the cursor in the area of the fishing rod icon, a green oval will appear. This allows you to move the marker where the float will fall.
- Cast the float near the fish and wait for it to bite.
- Pull the line by pressing the F key or the fishing rod icon.
- Over time, the line will start to turn red, stop pulling and wait until it turns white. Otherwise, the fish will tear the line, and then it will disappear.
Don’t forget that the fishing rod is just as much a tool as the others. Therefore, it needs constant repair. Use the portable repair kit (Repair Kit) which you can assemble on the workbench from five branches (Branch).
Where Fish Spawn
On the map, you can see many rivers and lakes, as well as four exits to different seas around the perimeter of the island. Fish spawn randomly, and they are always visible underwater as a dark blue silhouette. If you cast your rod into a body of water and wait a while, but nothing happens, we recommend finding another place to fish.
It’s important to understand that saltwater fish will not appear in a lake or river, and the same applies to freshwater. The catch also depends on the weather and time of day. Some fish can be caught at any time, regardless of the weather, while others can only be found in the morning during rainy weather.
How to Attract Fish
In Van’s store (Fishing store) you can find several items that can affect fish spawning:

- Bait: 200 coins. Sprinkle it into the water, and fish will appear;

- Mermaid Fish Attractor: 2,000 coins or one star of wishes. Unlocks at level 4 of fishing. Place the monument by the shore and wait for your catch;
- Mermaid Perfume: 4,000 coins or two stars of wishes. Unlocks at level 6 of fishing. Spray it on yourself, and fish will appear.
To max out the fishing hobby branch, you need to catch all 94 fish species at least once. Your catch can be sold to the traveling merchant Albert Jr.
