The “Shepherd’s Sorrow” trial in Crimson Desert is an Abyss-sealed artifact quest that asks you to sell three goats to Bram at a ranch. The game never explains who Bram is, where to find him, or which ranch it means—this guide will clear it all up.
Where to find the “Shepherd’s Sorrow” artifact: North-west of Hernand, directly under the second “N” in the word Hernand on the map, at the roadside. Look for a small pile of stones; while nearby, use the “Blinding Flash” skill to highlight the artifact’s location.

What the trial is really asking
To sell three goats to Bram you must meet two conditions:
- Unlock the ranch by completing the quest “Field of Abundance,” which causes Bram to spawn as a livestock trader.
- Catch three goats and lead them to Bram at the Howling Hill camp ranch.

Bram is a livestock buyer who appears at the Howling Hill camp after you finish the Greymane faction quest “Field of Abundance” in the Lands of the East arc. To do that:
- Reach Chapter 3–4 of the main story.
- Complete every quest in the Lands of the East section for the Greymane faction until “Field of Abundance” and “Land of Dreams” unlock.
- Send a squad on the “Cow Milking” dispatch to Blooming Woods Ranch via Ross or the map.
- Finish “Field of Abundance,” then build the ranch by completing the Greymane mission “Howling Hill – Build Ranch.”
Once the ranch is built at Howling Hill, Bram stands next to the butcher under a hanging sign with gold coins on it.

The closest goat spot is the open field right next to your Home, east of the main Howling Hill camp and above Dragon’s Stone Chamber. A large herd of wild goats spawns there; because they’re unowned, catching them isn’t theft.
To catch a goat, simply run it down, then lead the animal to Bram at the ranch. Walk into his pen (the central one) and he’ll automatically take the goat. Repeat three times to finish “Shepherd’s Sorrow” and claim the artifact.
Avoid catching kids—they can’t be transported on horseback.
