Creating and developing your character is the heart of Diablo II: Resurrected. Sometimes the build you chose stops feeling right, and that’s when the “respec” system comes in, letting you reset your stats and skills. Here’s how to do it.
Reset Stats with Akara
The first and easiest way unlocks after you finish the very first quest, “Den of Evil.” Talk to Akara in the starting camp to get it.
Head north-east out of camp into the Blood Moor and locate the cave that leads to the “Den of Evil” dungeon.
Clear every monster inside, then use a Scroll of Town Portal to return to Akara.
Once you hand in the quest, the dialogue with Akara gains a “Reset Stat/Skill Points” option. Note: you can use this only once per difficulty. Save it for when you want a complete build overhaul.
Reset Stats with a Token of Absolution
The second method is crafting a Token of Absolution in the Horadric Cube (found in Act II). It works just like Akara’s reset, but you can make as many as you like. You’ll need four rare components that drop only from specific bosses on Hell difficulty:
| Component | Source |
|---|---|
| Burning Essence of Terror | Drops from Diablo in Hell. |
| Charged Essence of Hatred | Drops from Mephisto in Hell. |
| Festering Essence of Destruction | Drops from Baal in Hell. |
| Twisted Essence of Suffering | Drops from Duriel and Andariel in Hell. |
Hell difficulty unlocks after beating the game on Normal and Nightmare, so this route is for seasoned players with geared-up characters.
