Crimson Desert is packed with all kinds of weapons and armor. Some are tied to the main story, while others are easy to miss because they’re tucked away in the world.

One of them is the Alabaster Yatagan, a solid one-handed sword you can grab very early—if you’re ready to spend plenty of time in the saddle.

Where to Find the Alabaster Yatagan

Head north-west to the Crimson Desert region. It lies in the province of Urdava, just above the Forebearer’s Barrens. Set your map marker about a centimetre above the letter “B” in “Forebearer’s Barrens”.

Before you leave, make sure you’ve unlocked the Visione helmet. It lets you see memories and is awarded after you liberate and scout the Lioncrest Watchtower in Hernand. Once you have it, saddle up and ride to the marker.

Remember, the Crimson Desert is a dangerous combat zone if you’re low-level or haven’t geared up Kliff properly. Avoid fights whenever you can—you won’t need to swing a blade to claim the sword. Bring at least five points of fire resistance so the scorching heat doesn’t drain your stamina.

When you arrive, look for a large circular sand funnel with a stone ring in the middle. Hop from rock to rock as you work toward the central platform. This is quicksand; you can’t simply run across without sinking.

On the platform, pull out Pyre and circle the ring until you spot a Memory Shard. Watch the ghosts until the Visione helmet auto-equips and plays the memory. You’ll learn loot was hidden here. Afterwards, use Pyre to reveal two buried spots: the sword and a Small Pouch of Silver Coins.

Look for small glowing pillars of energy and interact with the ground at those spots. Strangely, no shovel is required—Kliff will dig the items up by hand. Don’t forget to open the pouch in your inventory for the cash.

The Alabaster Yatagan is a decent one-hander with 16 ATK, upgrade level 2, and three Abyss Gear slots. Sadly, it has no unique moves or special perks like a boosted crit rate, so it’s mainly worth using if you like the look.

Nearly every weapon type deals comparable damage, but some—such as the Sword of Akria—come with a base crit chance of 1, making them better for tougher foes. Still, the Alabaster Yatagan can work as a solid off-hand blade if you dual-wield. Just slot in useful Abyss Gear—attack speed or crit chance, for instance—to squeeze more combat value out of it.
