Rainbow Six Siege has kicked off the Redacted event, inspired by Metal Gear Solid. It replaces the usual modes with a chaotic data-grab brawl that runs from March 25 to April 8. This limited-time 4v4 mode splits every round into two phases.
How to play the Redacted mode
Redacted is a best-of-three “hack-and-extract” mode. Attackers (Zero, Solid Snake, Iana, Ash, and Maverick) must hack a terminal while defenders (Smoke, Ela, Jäger, Kaid, and Kapkan) try to stop them.
Hack phase
Each round starts with the hack phase. Attackers locate one of three terminals and begin the hack. Defenders can spot the active terminal and cancel it, resetting progress. Both sides fight for control, creating a fast-paced tug-of-war. Once the hack hits 100 %, the extraction phase begins.
Extraction phase
Now attackers must pick up the “MO-disk” and deliver it to the evac point. The objective becomes mobile, demanding tight teamwork. Defenders need to intercept the carrier and eliminate them before extraction finishes.
How to earn free Redacted packs
Free Redacted packs are earned by completing weekly event challenges—play five mode matches or hack ten terminals, for example. Each challenge awards packs stuffed with exclusive themed items from the Redacted collection.
Completing the full set also unlocks a bonus animated skin: “C7E Memento” for Jäger. Packs can additionally be bought with Renown or real money.
How to get Twitch Drops for the Redacted event
Twitch Drops are also up for grabs. To snag the “Hydroponic” skin for the Vector .45 ACP, tune into eligible Rainbow Six Siege streams on Twitch.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Link your Twitch account to your Ubisoft account on the official site.
- Watch the official Rainbow Six Siege channel or partner streamers with drops enabled.
Drops are live from March 25, 9 a.m. PT, through April 1, 9 a.m. PT. You must accumulate at least two hours of watch time.
Once earned, manually claim the drop in your Twitch Inventory; only then will the item appear in-game.
