Crimson Desert is a game brimming with diverse gear that can boost Cliff’s combat potential. From mighty swords and armor to items imbued with elemental power, the open world is packed with discoveries.

Some pieces, however, are clearly better than others, and earning them usually takes effort. One such item is the White Lion Necklace—among the best necklaces in the entire game. Although you won’t need to solve any puzzles to obtain it, the trinket lies on the far side of the map, and you’ll have to defeat a dangerous foe—especially if your level is still low.

To claim the White Lion Necklace, head far to the north-east, just below Varnia on the map (shown above). More precisely, ride north from Trader’s Canyon along the lake. If you’re still in Hernand (or even Demenis), the default horse ride will easily take 20–30 minutes.

On the way through the Crimson Desert, bandit gangs and soldiers will attack you, so stick to the main roads—don’t cut across the wilderness or you may blunder into a whole group of enemies.

Keep an eye out for ore nodes while you travel. The road left of the marked Trade Plains is rich in bloodstone, lapis lazuli, and scolecite ore.

When you reach the spot, you’ll see several plateaus jutting out over the water to the right of Varnia Gate. On the lowest of them roams a pride of lions led by a colossal White Lion. Kill it to earn the necklace, but be warned: the White Lion is a legendary animal and the fight is no pushover.

If your gear is weak, first try to isolate the White Lion from the rest of the pride. Shoot it with a bow and quickly fall back. With luck, only the White Lion will give chase. Lure it well away from the others so you can duel it one-on-one.

Sometimes the lion wanders north of the pride, but don’t count on it; he still stays dangerously close to the regular lions. If you do pull the whole pride, focus on the lesser lions first. Their repeated pounce combos can stun you and deal serious damage.

Weapons with solid crowd control—such as the Curved Sword of Tauria or the Herald of Darkness—work well here. Their strong-attack skills hit multiple foes and clear the adds fast. The White Lion itself has no telegraphed one-shot moves, but that doesn’t mean it hits lightly. Even though it isn’t a boss, it can still chunk your health—especially if you’re low-level and trying to grab the necklace early.

Once the White Lion is dead, walk over and skin it. You’ll receive the White Lion Necklace, ready to equip at any time. The plateau also holds diamond-mineral nodes—a rare material needed for high-level gear upgrades!

The necklace is prized because it grants +2 Attack, raises crit chance by one level, and speeds Spirit recovery. That means more overall damage plus a welcome resource boost in long fights. Unless you’re running a very niche build, you can wear and upgrade it for the rest of the game.
