The Best Weapons Against Bots in Marathon

Fighting other players and wiping out UESC bots in Marathon are two very different jobs. AI-controlled enemies are easier to predict, but that doesn’t make them harmless.

This guide covers the weapons worth grabbing when you need to clear areas patrolled by UESC forces and their heavy hardware. We’ll break down the best anti-bot guns you can find and field right now.

If you’re grinding faction contracts or sweeping specific zones, these guns will make your life a lot easier.

Outland

Need a sniper rifle for dropping UESC units? Outland is a top pick. It’s a touch slower than rivals like Longshot, but it hits like a truck. Stationary targets are pure joy to delete.

Even tougher bots won’t pose much trouble. If your squad hasn’t aggroed them yet, open with a clean headshot, then finish with rapid body shots. A brilliant rifle.

BR33 Volley Rifle

We’ve already listed it for PvP, but it’d be criminal to skip it here. In our experience, this is arguably the best all-round gun in the game: steady damage, low recoil, and fantastic stability.

If you see one, grab it. You’ll be ready for anything and anyone.

Hardline PR

  • Save

The community loves to trash this rifle, but we’re giving credit where it’s due. It’s not the best sniper, yet three things make it great against bots: long-range accuracy, a juicy headshot multiplier, and you can find it everywhere—even in free kits.

As you level up and upgrade your loadout you’ll probably move on, but Hardline PR is a fantastic starter gun that lets you delete UESC troops with ease.

M77 Assault Rifle

  • Save

If the BR33 didn’t exist, this AR would likely be the best rifle in Marathon. M77 dishes out solid damage and feels great to handle, even if it’s a hair slower than competitors. Don’t be fooled—its punch will shred UESC shields faster than you expect.

It works well against both players and bots, but against the latter its raw damage and fast time-to-kill really shine. One tip: keep it to mid or close range; its effectiveness drops off at long distances.

BRRT SMG

  • Save

Let’s start with the downsides: it’s not the most stable SMG, and if you’re not right in the enemy’s face you might struggle. But we’re talking about UESC, whose bots love to rush you. With that in mind, its blistering fire rate and chunky per-bullet damage make it a powerhouse.

It spawns fairly often. If you can’t find a BRRT, the classic Bully SMG is a solid stand-in.
