Genes are a valuable resource that allows players to customize their Monsties’ active and passive skills before battle in Monster Hunter Stories 3. With over 500 genes, you can customize your favorite creatures to fit your preferred battle tactics.
Each Monstie in your team can have up to nine genes at the same time. To unlock their full potential, it’s essential to understand the available options and how to obtain them. This list contains all the genes, so you can choose the best ones for your partner.

All genes in the game are sorted by elements and attack types. For example, non-elemental genes come first, divided into groups: “Power”, “Speed”, “Technique”, and skills without a type.
There are many genes with multiple variations. Genes with a “+” sign at the end are enhanced S-rank versions of the original skill. They perform the same function but may have increased power, Dragon Breath charge, or lower stamina cost.
Other genes may have variations (S), (M), (L), and (XL). (S) skills are the weakest, and (XL) skills are the most powerful. The chance of getting an enhanced version of a skill increases with increasing the ecosystem rank of the monster that can give it and subsequent hatching of the egg.
